Meet the Staff

Hi, I’m Mary Leibold. I bought Dubuque Sewing & Vacuum after working here for 20 years for the two previous owners. Having been here for such a long time, the customers are like old friends. I love seeing the new products and sharing new ideas with everyone. My two faithful employees are Bernadette and Mary Ann, who love the work and don’t mind all the dirt from the vacuums, or the sewing machines.

Bernadette Martin has been sewing all her life and looks it. There are seams in her face and her hair looks like grey thread until she dyes it. She loves sewing and embroidery and even though she can fix a vacuum, she doesn't do the vacuuming at home. She loves waiting on customers and showing projects for Pfaff Club, so come in and see what she can do.

Mary Ann Strohmeyer has lived in Dubuque since 1995, moving from West Union. She bought her first Pfaff in 1999 Mary Ann started working here when Mary bought the store in 2003. She really enjoys working here, meeting lots of great customers. The best part is seeing all the new Pfaff products and notions when they come out. Now she’s having fun making things for family and friends, especially the grandkids.
